English-born author Richard Graham-Yooll grew up in Pembroke, South Wales, a town shadowed by history. At age seventeen he began his novel on the English civil war - an epic which, now that he lives far from his source material, he has yet to finish.

He was educated at Clifton College, Bristol, and Balliol College, Oxford, where he took his MA in English. Joining  the international division of a major British insurance company, and later Lloyds of London, he spent several years in both the Far and Middle East, including Thailand, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Iran.

His time in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, advising local investors how to form an insurance company taught him valuable lessons in mutual incomprehension and misunderstanding, and provided useful background for "A Foreign Policy."

After migrating to the USA, he started his own advertising business in Florida. After spending a few years in the Boston area of Massachusetts, he now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife, Penny. He has worked as a political campaign manager, co-edited a literary magazine and given presentations on marketing and advertising techniques.

He has written articles on finance and energy and also short stories for magazines in the UK and US. He has recently completed a new suspense novel and is working on his third.
